Nothing About Us, Without Us.
Civic Leadership Lab was founded on the belief that healthy communities are built through participation, connection, education, and collective care. Inspired by traditions of civic education, grassroots organizing, mutual aid, peer support, and liberation-centered learning, we believe people become powerful civic leaders when they are given access to knowledge, supportive relationships, critical dialogue, and opportunities to lead within their own communities.
In an era shaped by social fragmentation, misinformation, distrust, and increasing isolation, we believe rebuilding civic life requires more than policy conversations alone. It requires spaces where people can learn together, support one another, develop critical consciousness, build chosen community, and actively participate in shaping the future of their communities and institutions.
Our work centers leadership development, civic participation, peer support, decolonizing learning and education, mutual aid, and community-rooted research as tools for strengthening democratic participation, social connection, and collective empowerment. Civic Leadership Lab exists to expand civic participation, community leadership, peer support, and public education through free and low-cost workshops, classes, and peer counseling. Communities hold knowledge, experience and power. Build it, teach it, harness it and amplify your community’s voice.
